My Students

My students walk into our classroom every day excited for what is in store for them. I want them to know I believe in them and they can be anything they want to be if they believe in hard work and determination.

I teach at a Title I school in Staten Island NY, 100 percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.

Despite so many hardships, my students are determined to learn and do their best. They want to be in school because they want to learn all they can. They can be the president, a photographer, or an astronaut. They know the possibilities are endless and so do I. They may be third graders, but all I see is insurmountable potential in each face that I look at. I love my kids and want them to have everything they need in our classroom community.

My Project

Flexible seating is not just a way to beautify a classroom, but a way to offer the students choices that make sense for their learning. I started adding different seating options to our room two years ago and I can see the benefits. The students love working together in small groups, appreciate the flexibility, and respect the fact that they have a choice. Please help me provide buddy benches to add to our cozy, community oriented room that offers choice and individuality. The kids are already living it... let’s keep doing things for them that obviously help their learning experiences.
