My students need interactive science materials for a more complete scientific learning experience.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Science is such an exciting thing to learn, especially when you are six! How things work, and move, and grow is all so interesting. Science is a very hands-on branch of learning and requires hands-on materials to experience the subject properly.
I teach a great group of first grade students at a lower income charter school.
Our school is working hard for a top rating, but without proper resources, it's hard to reach that goal. Resources are hard to come by when charter schools aren't given the same funding as public schools in our area. My students are interested and excited about learning! It's always such a fun thing to see their little "a-ha" moments when things just start to click! I want to be able to guide them to the best learning experiences possible.
My Project
With these interactive science materials, my students will be able to conduct their own science experiments, physically manipulate materials to help them learn, and read about scientific topics from books at their own level. The books, pocket charts, and activity tubs all are perfectly fitted to our science standards as well as being hands-on and interactive. First graders are very visual and physical learners. They have to feel, touch, see and do in order to have the best learning experiences possible. These materials will also allow us to have different science centers about the same topics. Students will be able to read about plants in one center, re-create the growth cycle of a plant with a pocket chart in another center, and then do experiments with plants in yet another center. The resources we are requesting fit the bill perfectly!
First grade is such a crucial time in learning, when so much absorption of information is occurring.
Interactive materials are imperative to proper learning. Please help us have good learning experiences with science! Help us keep science interesting to young children!
