My Students

As a teacher with low income and high needs students, I like to expose the children to as many experiences as possible. The best way to do this is through literature. My students are eager to visit and explore new places, as well as learn about interesting topics through high interest multi leveled reading.

The students in my class are creative, clever, and very spontaneous.

They enjoy hands on activities and love to move around. Many of them come from single parent households, with low income status. Some have not experienced the "typical" things most children their age have. Whereas I can not control their life outside the classroom, I can control their experiences when they are with me. By using a creative and positive way I hope to inspire them to continued academic success.

My Project

Students who engage in art based activities are given a chance to express their emotions and help them feel successful. Students who feel successful are likely to try harder and take academic risks. These supplies will help my students improve their reading skills, while still allowing them to express their creativity.

Each month we study an artist!

The students will have the resources to learn about each artist, and to express their own creativity using the artist technique. By being able to gift my students the supplies they need to make their work easier and more special, they will continue to work hard and becoming more confident in themselves.
