This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
The materials and supplies I am requesting for my students will be used to give people a feel-good moment they can relive. The student club, Black Student Union, where I’m the advisor has joined with other Black student unions in NYC HS in making cards for elders in nursing homes.
Creating cards is their way of giving back to elders in the community, to remind them they are not forgotten, and that they matter.
Students will meet several times to create cards using cardstock paper, stickers, and markers for elders in several nursing homes across the city. It’s not often that young people are itching to do something outside of themselves. When they do I want to support them any way that I can.
More than half of students from low‑income households
