Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

At the Brooklyn Transition Center we prepare our students for the world of work through robust literacy instruction and use vocational learning labs to promote independent living. The items request lije the blender, and mixer would make a difference in their learning by helping to build our mobile culinary arts learning lab.

The goal of this project is to empower our students and give them hope to live out their dreams of working in various environments and settings the involve culinary arts.

These may include job placements such as hospitals, nursing homes, restaurants, and college campuses across New York City. In addition, our students will have the knowledge and understanding to make small meals at home that will encourage them to seek independent living arrangements.

At our center the students are ages 14-21 with various learning disabilities and special abilities. The spectrum they're on does not limit the vision they have created for themselves to obtain success. The level of success is determined by our support and rigorous instruction. However, we need the support of donations of products and materials to make our new culinary program possible.
