My Students

I teach visual arts at a public middle school in Flatbush, Brooklyn, NY. My students are hilarious, energetic, and really benefit from art programming! They desperately need a creative outlet, especially dealing with the aftereffects (and still-current effects) of the Covid-19 pandemic. My students carry with them all kinds of struggles and hardships, and yet still brave their way to school each day. To best honor and support their commitment to their education, it is crucial that I provide them with much more than the bare minimum when it comes to art education! That is why I wish to share techniques in clay sculpting, printmaking, and so many other beautiful methods of artmaking that they have not yet experienced.

My Project

These two materials will allow my students to explore new artistic methods that they have not yet experienced. My students are so silly and creative, and while they have been tackling many traditional art forms this school year and CRUSHING it, I would love to provide them with materials that are a bit more unconventional for their exploration.

Students will explore unique methods of sculpture and collage using these novel materials.

I know these will allow my students to dig even deeper into their creativity and sense of curiosity, and I can't wait to show them new possibilities in artmaking!
