This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach both online and in person classes and my students are extremely diverse but mostly minority students. They are Bronx tough and street smart to say the least. We are having difficulty transitioning to online learning because my students are below socioeconomic average. 100% of my kids get free lunch. Despite that they are eager to learn and are resourceful with all changes.
My Project
The computer will be a light weight and easy to use tool to transport to and from school for each student. They are in school for only 2 to days a week and every other Monday, and students need to tackle online platforms more easily. Our school has provided old and almost non usable laptops and most children can't complete the assignment because of it. Often times students thrive in school but lose their momentum when they get home. Having a computer like this will allow them to complete ALL tasks without having to convert or switch certain platforms because the computer is too slow to update to newer app versions. This computer will allow students to both write and type information to take home and complete assignments on their own.
