Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My team is full of students who are full of excitement, dedication and passion for soccer. These students all work hard in the classroom all day, and want to take their love of soccer to the field after school. The team is a mix of experienced players who have been playing for many years, students who have joined looking to try a new sport or students who have wanted to get an opportunity to have an after school activity

Last year we started our program and played our first scrimmage in October.

We applied for PSAL the last two years, but have been denied acceptance into the league for a second consecutive year, so we lack the funding to outfit our team. I have done small fundraisers to provide some cleats, socks and shin guards, and would like to provide proper uniforms to our team. We practice several times a week no matter what conditions are like outside and our passion drives our team in all climates and playing conditions. We will have several scrimmages we have set up and hope to play in a tournament or two.

My Project

Our soccer team has been a project that is close to my heart and has been popular amongst our Bronx students. We have chosen a yellow jersey and blue shorts, our school colors. We bleed blue and yellow in our LGJ Jaguar pride and in our school spirit and want to show in on the field. We are taking our team to play other NYC schools this year in scrimmages and hope to play in tournaments.

We are hoping to get uniforms to help us get on the field and to have the necessary equipment to play in these games and for years to come!
