My Students

I teach at a neighborhood high school in the city of Philadelphia, known to be one of the most diverse and among the highest performing schools in the district. The students are curious about their cultural history, learning to be more involved in music and the arts. Students come from over 60 different cultural backgrounds, speaking several different languages.

Music is the universal language that brings many of our students together.

Students are actively involved in several multicultural events, concerts, and productions a year. However, being a school in the city of Philadelphia comes with a price: A price of needing support for materials.

My Project

My students and I can use this Bose Spro1 Portable Speaker to showcase our talents. While day to day use will be to play music from our computers, students can also plug in our acoustic electric guitars, piano keyboards, microphones and mix themselves into a live performance with a backing track. Students who have practiced hard love to embrace the special opportunity to be featured and heard by their peers. This moment in the spotlight is best when all their peers can hear them: through a quality speaker.

While many of you are aware my classroom currently does not have electricity, it is important that we have access to long term battery operated solutions.

This speaker will be used daily and give students an idea of how basic mixing works.
