My Students

My students come to me to not only learn about environmental science but also about wildlife conservation and animals living within our environment. The challenge facing us however is that we have no living animals within our classroom.

My students are excited and eager to learn about the world around them.

Many of them rarely make it out of their New York and they all come from very diverse backgrounds. They come to our school because they have an interest in not only animals but also conservation.

My Project

I have requested Glofish, a fish tank, fish net and fish food. There are many ways in which the Glofish will change my students and help them to actively grow as learners. With the Glofish come countless inquiry projects my students can partake in that will help them to not only learn about the fish themselves but also to learn more about the scientific process. My students will be able to use the Glofish to make biological observation, determine density of irregular shaped objects and practice working with Punnett squared and genetic predictability.

These materials will help my students in beginning to understand animal life around them.

These materials will also aid them in understanding the inquiry process by allowing the them to do experiment. The Glofish will also serve as a means of helping my students to develop a sense of responsibility within the classroom.
