Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a Title I school and my students are excited to explore, to learn and to expand and broaden their horizons just to be given the opportunities that other children take for granted.

My students are sons and daughters of first generation immigrants who struggle sometimes to find the right path to success but they put forth maximum effort when given the right motivation.

My students are unique in the sense that they are high achievers despite facing the typical immigrant population challenges. Our overwhelming Hispanic population needs support but given the right tools will perform at a high level.

My Project

Through the implementation and usage of Apple iPod Touch devices my Spanish S and EFL students will be able to connect to the lessons through Kahoot and interactively review the vocabulary and reading comprehension from the lessons taught in class. For example, my students will be reviewing vocabulary that I have created before taking the actual test. This virtual review through Kahoot will let the students know where they stand before taking the actual test.

Every unit and chapter contains challenging curriculum words that will become more accessible through Kahoot by utilizing the iPod Touch devices to interact and obtain immediate feedback.

Therefore, by pinpointing their weaknesses and highlighting their strengths they will be able to better prepare for the actual chapter tests. Also, the laptop computer will serve as a center for my students to learn through BrainPop and to access the Tumble books library. In order to protect the devices, we also need cases.

Additionally, my students will be able to test their knowledge and assess their level through the interactive quizzes; therefore it will become a tool that will increase their motivation and also their chances for success. This a proven tool for success and high motivation in my classroom since it bridges the gap between pencil-and-paper test and technological innovation.
