My Students

A typical day involves small group work. Students work together in all subjects supporting each other by sharing ideas and turn keying information to one another. My biggest challenge is having the resources for their independent/partner use to further their conversations and research.

My students are in 2nd grade.

I have a variety of nationalities, languages and abilities. My students work best when they can be actively involved in any subject. Small group teams work together across the subject areas. With the use of books and manipulative's, students work together to learn. Throughout the school environment this notion of small group teams and student interaction is a very common belief to a proper education. Teachers alone can't be the only source of information, students are filled with knowledge too, ready to share. Technology can be another source to extend their learning.

My Project

The materials I am requesting will benefit my students because the use of technology will allow my students to venture out of the classroom and out to the world. Throughout the school year, we study countries around the world, wildlife, geography, ETC. We have limited amount of books, that are limited to pictures and information. These books really don't gain much of the students interest. Therefore, limiting their ability to learn. Students usually have questions, that books cannot answer. If technology was incorporated, they can find the answers to their questions researching online using tablets. Videos and E-Books can be other resources when a book at hand is unavailable. Besides research, I have a variety of languages spoken in my classroom. Having the opportunity to differentiate instruction through technology and the students home language, will help that student learn.

The tablets I am requesting will be very much appreciated and beneficial to my students.

Having the technology at my students hands, will help them gain further knowledge in all subject areas. Having the technology, will gain their interests because students like to be actively involved in their decisions they make to learn.
