Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My class is unique, interesting, and heartbreaking at times. I don't teach in a traditional classroom. I teach in the student's home or in a hospital. Lately having the necessary materials to teach my students properly has been a challenge.

My students are homebound due to a medical condition that prevents them from attending a traditional school.

Some of my students are undergoing chemotherapy or they have a terminal illness. Even though these students are fighting for their lives they are always ready to learn as much as they can. My students, aside from all their health issues, are the most studious and hard working children I have ever met. They are so determined to do their best and succeed that they deserve all the necessary learning tools they require. Our school does its best to provide as much as it can but with so many students it can be quite difficult. We are the only school in our county who teach these unique type of children. With so many budget cuts we lack having enough materials to provide to our students.

My Project

These materials will help my students bring the real world to them. Since my students are hospital/homebound they can not take traditional field-trips or go to the library like a typical student but by the use of an iPad they can participate in virtual tours such as The American Museum of Natural History and The Great Wall of China. They can also learn how to do research on a variety of subjects. They will also have interactive journals to create hands-on activities using fun art materials to go along with their virtual trips and research. This will help students have a better knowledge of their world and education. Not only will these materials help students have a better understanding in all content areas but it will also give them the foundations to get better scores in standardized testing.

These donations will help me take my students to the next level.

By obtaining these materials it would give my students an open gateway to the world. These materials will also help them understand the world around them and how to solve real world problems. Please help my students reach their potential. Sometimes this is what helps them get through their illness.
