My Students

This will be my second year teaching at our school and I am proud of the success we had this year. We experienced many things and Scholastic Magazines sparked many interesting conversations and lessons.

Our school is a special place that attracts gifted and inquisitive kids from all over the Tucson area.

We offer a curriculum that specializes in the multiple intelligences, and I try to give the kids as many hands-on opportunities for learning that I can.

My Project

Using Scholastic Magazines in my classroom this last year has supplemented our curriculum in so many fun ways. It gave us a way to discuss current issues and let the kids read non-fiction in a way that interested and engaged them. With this next year being an election year, I can't wait to read the magazines together and tie it into our social studies curriculum!

Not only does it expose the kids to current events, but we were able to use the magazines for classroom debates, writing projects, and in depth research programs. It gave us a way to see what interested the kids and develop their interests into engaging lessons that they want to participate in.
