Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My students love 'meeting' famous composers and their music! I teach elementary music at a low-socioeconomic urban Texas school.

Hearing the music on a small stereo and occasionally watching a performance DVD has always really helped to engage the students' interest. However, about a year ago we had a break-in and the stereo and DVD player were stolen. We are currently having to use a small radio with poor audio quality.

After much research and comparison shopping, I am requesting a mini-component stereo system, DVD player, and five performance DVDs. The stereo will have the dynamic and pitch range to properly showcase music that often drops to whisper quiet passages with string basses. The DVD player and DVDs such as 'Beethoven Lives Upstairs' will bring the music and its' history to life.

For most of my students, my class is the only exposure they have had to this music. It teaches them history, sociology, and critical thinking skills. You have the opportunity to help foster in my children a love and appreciation for some of the worlds' greatest music. Thank you for your time and attention.
