My Students

I teach at a Title I school in San Diego and have the opportunity of teaching a very diverse group of students. Throughout the year we come to consider our classmates friends and family and our classroom becomes home.

I want my students to know that I not only see their differences and needs, but understand and accept them as well.

In our class, we spend a lot of time on social emotional learning and becoming compassionate students that can work together. We are constantly exploring different careers and passions to try and figure out what we love. Whether my students choose college, trade school, the military, or go directly into the work force, I want them to know they have a bright future!

My Project

I need to get some essential items so my students can be successful in their own homes while learning. Personal whiteboards will make it easier for the students to participate through zoom and headphones will help cut the noise so they can focus. Some of my students come from households with up to 6 other kids and I can only imagine how difficult it will be to find a quiet and private space.

Spring distance learning was hard to say the least and I want the fall to be different!

I want my students to log into zoom and understand this is school and not something we can just slack on. If we do this all year I need my kiddos to realize from the start how important this is. I have been working on converting an extra bedroom into a "classroom" with a whiteboard, bookshelf, desk, etc. I want to decorate it like a regular classroom would be decorated! Anything to get the kids on board so they can be successful!
