My Students
I teach at a Title I school in Gravesend, Brooklyn, where 100 percent of our students are entitled to free lunch and breakfast. Our student population is very diverse. Students speak many languages, such as Albanian, Arabic, Bulgarian, Creole, Georgian, Hindi, Polish, Spanish, Russian, Hebrew, Cantonese, Uzbek, and Ukrainian, just to name a few!
The kids are incredibly talented artists who are eager to learn, experiment, and grow.
They are creative thinkers that love discovering new things and exploring new opportunities. They are each unique, with their own set of challenges as well as successes!
My Project
My art students are exploring ways to incorporate science, engineering, technology and mathematics in their artwork. They have been using these skills to think creatively, outside of the box.
These materials will be essential in the process of creating motion and exploring lighting within their sculptures.
I want to engage the students and provide hands-on learning. Students will be experimenting and problem solving. They will create artworks that are both beautiful and functional. My students will have a greater understanding of the importance of art and how art is integral to so many professions.
