My Project

Help us foster a love of reading in early learners while equipping high school students with hands-on teaching experience! This project will provide a collection of high-quality children's books to serve as the foundation for preschool lesson plans created and taught by high school students in our on-site community preschool, which operates three days a week. Our Preschool Lab is an introductory student-teaching program that integrates STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) principles into early childhood education.

Using children's books as thematic anchors, high school students will design interactive lessons incorporating art projects, sensory-based crafts, and nutritious, themed snacks—engaging young learners while reinforcing critical early learning concepts.

Through this project, high school students will:

Gain real-world teaching experience in early childhood education.

Explore STEAM-based lesson planning, using literature to introduce concepts in science, math, and the arts.

Develop creativity and problem-solving skills while designing engaging activities for preschoolers.

Understand the critical role of literacy and lifelong learning in a child's development.

Learn essential childcare and parenting skills through hands-on interactions with young learners.

By integrating STEAM into this Pre-Student Teaching Environment, we are preparing future educators while fostering a passion for reading and learning in preschoolers. With your support, we can provide the books and materials needed to make this experience enriching for both our high school students and the young children they teach!
