Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I will be teaching an incredible group of 5th-grade dual-language learners who are eager to explore history, geography, and the world around them. Social Studies is a vital subject that helps students develop critical thinking skills, cultural awareness, and a sense of civic responsibility. However, many school districts prioritize math and reading, leaving Social Studies resources—especially in Spanish—hard to obtain.

This project will provide my students with engaging Social Studies materials, including Spanish-language posters, books, and hands-on resources that highlight diverse historical perspectives, geography, government, and cultures.

One of the most valuable resources in this project is a set of comprehensive Social Studies flashcards, which will serve as an essential tool for reinforcing key concepts, preparing for assessments, and engaging in collaborative discussions. These flashcards will allow students to review important historical events, key figures, and geography in an interactive and meaningful way.

With your support, my students will have access to high-quality materials that allow them to make meaningful connections to the past and present. They will be able to analyze historical events, discuss civic responsibilities, and explore the contributions of different cultures—knowledge that is essential for shaping informed and thoughtful citizens.

Social Studies is more than just memorizing dates and facts—it’s about understanding our place in the world, learning from history, and building a better future. By funding this project, you are ensuring that my students receive a well-rounded education that values their language, culture, and critical thinking abilities.

Thank you for making a difference in my classroom and for helping us bring Social Studies to life!
