Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My second grade students are full of questions and love exploring the world around them. They investigate and take observational notes as they work together to find answers.

My energetic batch of second grade learners are part of an ICT, or Integrated Co-Teaching class, which is part of the NYC public school system.

They live in a high poverty, multi-cultural community, and the majority of them come from low-income families. Our class consists of two teachers - one general education teacher and one special education teacher, and a wonderful group of second grade learners.

My Project

Science read-aloud texts would help support my students' learning and provide additional information to support understanding of the science units we explore. Materials, such as science journals, masking tape and planter bags, will help to support students as they investigate and explore our spring unit on plants.

Your contribution would help support both the literary and the investigatory part of our science units, while helping to bring text-based research and hands-on learning together for my second grade scientists.
