Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is located in an area where most students come from low-income homes. We are a Title 1 school, meaning our students are labeled as economically disadvantaged. The students in my class range from highly gifted to special needs. They are a group who enjoys interactive learning and they are extremely active.

This group of students has a love for learning and they are soaked into activities that challenge them and present new things.

They are eager to begin new learning adventures. Their daily motivation and enthusiasm drives learning in the classroom.

My Project

I am requesting a Lego WeDo 2.0 robotics kit set and 3 Google Chromebooks so that my students will begin to develop the science, engineering, and technology skills required in today's society. Using the Next Generation Science Standards, students will work in cooperative groups to engage in project-based learning to produce robotic creations, and use coding to program their robots to complete a specific action and task. Students will learn to use scientific methods to problem solving, asking questions, defining problems, and designing their own solutions. Students will present their completed projects to fellow peers, and the school community through our social media websites.

Your generosity will equip my students with the necessary skills to become creative and innovative thinkers in a society that thrives with technology and STEM activities.

Adding LEGO robotics technology to my inner city classroom will help students with their logic and reasoning. Robotics and coding with the Google Chromebooks and Lego bricks will bring abstract concepts to life with entertainment that will make learning fun while acquiring 21st century skills.
