This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Help me introduce my kids to Elephant and Piggie, two amazing characters that will definitely get my students reading.

I work with students with intellectual disabilities and students with autism who are also English Language Learners.

Many of my students are non-verbal, or have limited expressive language. However, they have double the challenge, since not only are they learning a second language, they are learning to communicate.

My Project

We are learning all about characters! And who is better to inspire my kids other than this funny duo-- Elephant and Piggie. Please help me bring these characters to life with the books and plush toys so that my students can put on little skits, bake character cookies, compare/contrast characters, and just read read and read some more. These books are full of sight words kids need to learn in order to be successful readers. The language is captivating yet offers a lot of repetition-- which is how my kids learn best!

My students need so much but require just one simple gesture of kindness to make them smile.

Please help me bring a smile to their face. Not only will you be making a difference in their lives, but they will have an opportunity to also borrow these books and take them home to share with their families. Families that read together, stay together.
