My Students

My students desperately need art in the classroom. Unfortunately art is not offered to my second graders. They love to design and create works of art. Supplies are often limited.

I have an amazing second grade class.

I have 11 boys and 11 girls. My students come from all over the world; from Haiti, Guiana,Cape Verde, Puerto Rico, Ireland and Poland. They are a very diverse bunch. They love to write and draw and love to create different art projects. My students attend a public school where over half of the student population are on a free and reduced lunch. Our school is a great place. We have a lot of parent involvement. We have parents that come in frequently to help with different projects.

My Project

The Cricut machine will be an asset to the classroom. The students will be able to create different art projects on a regular basis. They will feel as if they have art every week. What an amazing feeling that would be! They will be able to decorate their self published books and feel like a real author. They will be able to create seasonal projects for the classroom as well as for their families. They will show off their creativity by displaying their art work on the bulletin board.

For many kids art is the one reason they come to school everyday.

It is unfair that some students have to go with out art because of lack of funding. It is such an important subject. They need to be able to express themselves creatively and perhaps discover a life long love.
