Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

About My Students

This project is so exciting because of the amazing leadership that these students have shown in completing this project and the dedication they have. This project involves a group of 8th grade boys and girls who want to learn skills that will help them earn scholarships and so much more.

The students are currently members of our Stage Crew. They work in our auditorium to produce events for our students and community. The students saw some of the technology we had and had seen better options out there that were more efficient and more professional. The students approached me to figure out how we could get these items. The students researched, compared functionality, and compiled the pro/cons of each item before it was requested.

The students in this project are learning how to be good consumers. They are looking for the best prices, reviews and functionality. This allows the students to gain a skill that will be required in college and in life. They are completing this task in groups, which ensures that they understand teamwork and real-life problem-solving. The students will also be learning how to operate the equipment, which gives students practical technical skills that can be applied in college and in the workforce.

In Their Own Words

We want to bring the ability to manage sound and lights in our theater into the 21st-Century. The current technology that is being used is old and not efficient. We would like our school to have the tools to be up-to-date.

We are part of the tech crew that will use this new technology each time. We are the ones who will become the experts in how to use it. We want to create a handbook that we can pass on to the incoming students that will help train them and future students. We are looking to change how students work and act in the theater through training and updated technology.

This project is important in our school, because it helps our old technology become updated. It allows us to have the tools that we need to create interesting assemblies while taking on the task of training students and teachers on how to use and protect the new technology for years to come. We want technology that is updated.
