Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Some of my students have not yet discover books in math class that captures their imaginations. This could be the year students can make the connection in books to math. My students need books and storage in Math Class.

My students are bright students eager to grow and learn.

My school is in a low income neighborhood. I want my students to have the same opportunities students all over the nation have. The opportunity to go to college; the key to success in college is reading. As a class we want to read "101 Things Everyone Should Know About Math"

My Project

This project requests The Number Devil, Mathematicians Are People, Too, Great Number Rumble: A Story of Math in Surprising Places Co., Arithmetricks: 50 Easy Ways to Add, Subtract, Multiply & Div, 01 Things Everyone Should Know About Math, and Math Book for Girls. I envision these resources in my classroom to bring literature back into our 5th grade Math class. As a math teacher I believe students need to be strong readers to be successful in Math. My goal is to incorporate literature into our daily routines. Reading is important to have students explore society. As part of our new routine I want to incorporate, a couple of minutes read stories that can correlate to Math. In this project I am asking for books to add complexity to our classroom. The Staples File Storage Crates On Wheels and Expanding Folding Crate On Wheels will organize and store these reading materials.

Donations to this project will improve literature in our Math class.

These donations will help my students see the importance of literature to solve real world word problems. We are going to be reading the book "The Number Devil" daily to incorporate literature and fun into Math class. In my project i have requested books for my entire class. I want my students to discover Math is all over the world, not just in the classroom. Books can help.
