This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I love my students for their resilience, curiosity, and eagerness to learn despite the challenges they face in our low-income Chicago community. Every day, they come to class ready to engage, ask questions, and connect history to their own lives. They are passionate, determined, and full of potential, but limited resources often make it difficult to provide them with the hands-on, interactive learning they deserve. What makes them special is their drive to succeed, and I want to give them every opportunity to do so.

With the right supplies, my students will be able to turn history from a set of facts into a living, breathing story they can actively engage with.

Copy paper, colored paper, and highlighters will help them create timelines, interactive notebooks, and collaborative projects that make learning history both fun and meaningful. These resources will allow them to organize their thoughts, highlight key concepts, and visualize historical events in a way that makes the content memorable. My goal is to make history exciting, accessible, and relevant, giving my students the tools they need to think critically and express themselves. With these supplies, they can continue to grow, learn, and build the skills they need to shape their futures.
