This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I travel to many schools throughout my district servicing mostly PK-4th grade. My Occupational Therapy students are gaining skills to improve their overall success in the classroom and in life. They are improving their fine motor skills, handwriting skills, and sensory processing skills (just to name a few)! I work hard to put the fun in functional.

My Project

Having an in-class Occupational Therapy iPad will help bring fun into the functional activities we engage in during our sessions. This iPad will travel along with me to the multiple buildings I service so all of my students on my caseload will benefit from this added technology tool. My students will be able to access functional apps to improve the student's visual perceptual skills, handwriting skills, fine motor and dexterity skills, attention, and executive functioning skills. Having the Apple Pen will be an additional multi-sensory technique to address and improve handwriting skills.

Despite varying challenges, my students are hard-working, talented, resilient, and ready to learn.

The Cricut Maker and supplies will help me create fun and engaging activities for carry-over at home and during the summer. I will also use it to create sensory pathways in the hall for any student in my buildings to benefit from.
