I will be teaching 5th-grade students that will just be returning to in-person learning. My students come from families who are new to the country. Some of my students require special services. My students come from varied backgrounds with different economic needs. Many of them are being raised in single-parent households and receive a free lunch based on their socioeconomic status.
Social-emotional & Mental well-being will be a focus when they return to school in September.
I would like them to be able to create projects to help inspire others to be kind & supportive of others. I would also like to tie some of these projects into our school's focus on recycling and taking care of our environment.
My Project
Many of my students will be returning back into our classes for the first time after a long period of remote learning. Many of my students have not entered a physical classroom since March of 2020. I want them to come back excited and eager to learn. I also want to provide them with time to create fun and personalized projects that they will treasure long after they leave my classroom.
With a Cricut machine, my students will be able to create personalized water bottles that can be reused to help us reduce the amount of plastic waste in our building and design their own unique t-shirts for special weeks of school activities such as Kindness Week and Autism Awareness Week.
