Our students are always full of curiosity and wonder. They come from a very low-income neighborhood where there aren't a lot of resources for them to be able take home a bright, colorful, inviting book to read at home!! The closest library is over 10 miles away and many parents do not have a reliable mode of transportation to take them to and from the library. Our resources are limited to black and white printers for them to publish their original writing projects, or to receive brightly colored certificates of achievement. Nevertheless, this does not deter them from trying their best.
We want to create and provide an environment where they can use the proper resources to excel in all that they may want to do.
We want them to be able to achieve all of their goals and dreams and become literacy loving, proficient readers and writers!!
My Project
Our school and district budget has been cut drastically; this has affected our school in more ways than we could ever imagine. When it comes to printing in our school, everything has to be in black and white.
Our students shouldn't have to suffer because of mistakes and decisions that adults make in budgeting; we would like to continue printing things that have been created in color.
We want them to take pride in their work and published projects that they have created! Help us continue to make memories that will last a lifetime for our students!
In my classroom I teach reading, writing and math to students who are struggling in those academic areas that would benefit from colorful and vibrant visual and teaching aids. This printer will be used to print colorful easy readers, in-color writing and word activities, certificates, pictures, projects, and visuals for our boards, as well as reading cue cards and colorful vocabulary cards. They’ll be motivated to be creative and complete their assignments as best as they can to receive the beautifully colored achievement awards!
We live in a colorful world, and my students' work should be a reflection of their creative minds.
As second language learners they would benefit greatly from the vibrant color on vocabulary cards and easy readers they can take home and read to his/ her family!
