Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My middle school math students come from many different cultures and backgrounds. Inside the classroom they are creative, inquisitive, and learn in various ways. They love engaging lessons, hands-on activities, and technology infused lessons. Everyday, they come to school eager to learn and excel. I always look forward to watching them overcoming their various struggles as they progress throughout the school year.

Not only are my students eager learners but they are also very thoughtful and giving.

They help each other through small acts like providing a pencil to a classmate in need, and through great acts of kindness like standing up for a friend that has not been treated fairly. It is a daily pleasure to work with these amazing kids.

Our school is a Title I school which means that there is a large concentration of low-income students. After conducting individual interviews with my students, I have realized that several of them do not have access to technology.

My Project

Bringing a color printer into the classroom will help my students to better understand math. Students will be given opportunities to create and print classroom posters, projects, and brochures that will help build understanding for various mathematical topics.

Having colorful and neat student-made visual aids posted in the classroom will help students take pride in their computer created designs.

The printer will help absent students to obtain an actual copy of class notes when they are absent. The scanning feature can be used to to email homework to absent students. Students will also have access to the printer to print out colorful chapter study guides that will be kept in their notebook. Explaining mathematical concepts with color is always best.
