My Students

My classroom is a safe place, and a fun place for students to explore mathematics, and understand how it relates to their lives. Not only do I want students to understand why math is important, but to find enjoyment in learning about challenging concepts.

My students are mathletes in training.

My students are 8th-graders who are still excited about learning math, and who want to be challenged, and see the relevance that math has in their lives. I have a very diverse group of students that range from different ethnicities and socioeconomic backgrounds, as well as different interests.

My Project

One of the materials that I am requesting is an all in one color printer that will allow my students to enhance their classroom projects, and make them really pop! A lot of my students don't have printers at home, and if they do, many of them only have printers that can print in black and white. Although I know that color printers may be costly, it is worth it to see students being excited about their final project, and commenting that they want to keep it for a long period of time. The other material that I am requesting is a commercial three hole puncher, that will be used by my students, as well as be shared with other math teachers. This hole puncher will allow students to quickly and efficiently hole punch their papers, and organize all of their work.

One of the things that I love about being a math teacher, is watching students get excited about projects we complete in class, and knowing that they are so proud of their finished products, that they will hold onto them for years to come as a token of their hard work.

The materials that I am requesting, will help students be more organized, as well as encourage them to produce work that they can be proud of.
