Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our 2nd through 5th grade students are about to embark on an exciting new unit in coding! To make this unit accessible and engaging, we’re aiming to provide hands-on, non-digital coding experiences that allow students to understand the fundamentals of coding through real-world play. To bring these concepts to life, we’re requesting tools like the Fisher-Price Learning to Code Robot, Coding Critters, Bumble and Bumble, and the Learning Resources Space Rover Coding Activity Set.

In today’s tech-driven world, coding skills have become a critical part of learning.

However, students at this age often benefit most from hands-on, tangible learning experiences that allow them to interact directly with the concepts they are studying. With your help, we can provide students with high-quality, hands-on materials to learn coding without needing a screen.

With these resources, students will learn to think critically, solve problems, and work collaboratively. materials are designed to introduce coding fundamentals such as sequencing, logic, and problem-solving in a collaborative environment. Students will work in partnerships and small groups, learning through trial and error as they guide robots and solve coding challenges. They’ll develop resilience as they test, modify, and perfect their coding instructions. These hands-on experiences will lay a strong foundation for more advanced coding and technology skills in the future, preparing them to thrive in a tech-centric world.

Your support will allow us to give our students a creative, interactive, and supportive environment to learn coding fundamentals without screens. Thank you for considering our project to make coding an unforgettable, hands-on adventure for our students!
