This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My honors chemistry classroom is an environment that promotes hands-on learning and discovery learning. I encourage my students to challenge themselves academically every day. The student population is predominantly girls, and our setting is in a Title I school.

I am trying to encourage them to look into the stem fields.

When ever possible, I try to incorporate technology and engineering ideas in my lesson plans. We have a hard time with this because we only have 5 Chromebooks that can be unreliable. Lets provide the tools for these ladies to become our future scientists and engineers!

My Project

Nearpod helps make slides interactive for students. With this program, I will be able to integrate pHET simulations (online experiments), videos and other resources directly into my presentation. Another benefit is that I will be able to reach all of my students. Adding interactive activities will provide opportunity for all students to participate during the lesson at once. I will be able to quickly identify who understand and who needs additional help.

For example, I can ask students to draw an atom.

I will be able to quickly see students drawing and help identify/correct any misconceptions.

Another examples, I can use the collaborate tool to help shy students participate when a question is prompted.

Overall, my students will greatly benefit from Nearpod!
