The students in grade 6 are diverse in ethnicity, personality, and need. Their ability to overcome adversity and learn to build community while learning is not easy but it is what we will be striving toward in the 2019/2020 school year.
Many of my students do not venture beyond the home they live in or the school.
I want all of my children to be able to have experiences that help them develop as individuals and as a classroom community
I love to provide a classroom environment that allows all of my learners in their uniqueness to feel comfortable and ready to learn.
My Project
Students in grade 6 along with their families will be invited to a play. We will take public transportation to a local college and watch a live adaptation of the novel "Bud, Not Buddy".
Students in grade 6 are currently reading the novel "Bud, Not Buddy".
As they do the meaningful work of engaging with the text through reading, writing, and discussion, the opportunity to see a live action adaptation of the novel they are reading would be a great way to put the arts in English Language Arts and include our families!
Please help us see the novel come to life! Help families have an experience that links home, school, reading, and the arts together. Students would love to have the cultural experience of attending a theatrical event and would be able to have it with their home and school families.
