Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Each one of my students has an individualized service plan and are mandated for speech/language services to address areas of need such as receptive language, expressive language, articulation, and fluency. My students enjoy coming to speech therapy and working on their goals. It is amazing to see their reactions when they learn a new strategy. My students may need various repetitions before grasping a concept. Students learn at different rates and it is important to give them their best possible outcome. My school is extremely supportive. However, being that we are in a high needs area, we are not provided with all of the supplies needed in speech to address all of the students objectives. Therefore, we are requesting the assistance from Donors Choose to assist us in reaching our goals.

My Project

My students come from a high needs/poverty district. Many of them do not read at home and do not find any interest in reading. This project would be extremely beneficial in allowing me to better assist my students in bringing stories to life. I can already see the smiles and excitement when they are asked to retell a book and/or fable using props provided and props made using the laminator. Furthermore, many of my students in the lower grades struggle with letter names and sounds. The letter boards would be a great incentive when working on names and sounds. These students are the future of tomorrow and need your generosity. Thank you so much.
