This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In many high schools in Florida, free access to quality texts in the school libraries and media centers have been limited. Where it was once easy and accessible for students to borrow, read, and return books, access to school-provided literature is now scarce.

But the classroom library still lives!

And I am constantly looking to supplement the texts my students read in class with literature that is meaningful and appropriate for students.

Through the books that are donated to my classroom library, my students will be able to have choice in the texts that they read with the variety of fiction and non-fiction, poetry and prose, classic and contemporary selections that they can just grab off of the shelf and enrich their understanding of the world around them.
