Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our 6th-grade Social Studies students are about to embark on a journey through history, exploring the wonders of ancient civilizations like Egypt, Mesopotamia, Greece, and Rome. To make this experience more immersive, I am requesting materials that will allow students to create, sculpt, and bring history to life through STEM, in ways that go beyond the traditional textbook.

Through hands-on projects, students will design 3D models, artistic renderings, and interactive displays that will deepen their understanding of ancient cultures.

These creative projects will also enhance their problem-solving skills, foster teamwork, and encourage self-expression.

To achieve this, I’m requesting a set of high-quality materials, including modeling clay, premium acrylic paint markers, and canvas boards, which will give students the tools they need to create vibrant, realistic representations of ancient artifacts and artworks. Additionally, we’ll need sculpting tools to refine their creations.

With these materials, students will not just learn about history; they will experience it by creating art, models, and visual representations that make ancient civilizations come alive. For many of my students, this will be their first opportunity to work with quality craft supplies, which will foster creativity, engagement, and pride in their learning.

As a Title I school, many of my students do not have access to these kinds of supplies at home. These materials will ensure that every student has an opportunity to express themselves through art while reinforcing the historical content they are learning.
