My Students

My students are a wonderful group of creative and talented high schoolers. Before coronavirus closed our school my students showed an immense commitment to both their arts and academic education. The students come from neighborhoods near and far as they traveled up to 2 hours each way to participate in the unique arts and academic education offered at our school. Students then participated in the longest public school day in our great city and still they often stayed after school for both academic and arts enrichment.

Since coronavirus closed our school in March students and teachers at our school are demonstrating the meaning of fortitude.

My students will continue some remote learning in the Fall of 2020 to keep everyone safe. Their lessons are both videotaped and live. Just like it was pre-pandemic, my school is a true melting pot of cultures, languages, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

My Project

A document camera will allow me to bring the live science classroom into student homes as we conduct experiments, work out problems, and organize our ideas together. With a document camera I can make sure students are able to safely watch science experiments and make observations from home. They can see how different variables change the outcome of experiments as we can test their ideas in real time. The document camera will all use to work together, step by step problem solving. Students will be able to ask questions as they arise when we are solving problems together. This tool that can help make remote learning more interactive and we can collaborate our ideas and organize them in a graphic organizer while live instruction is happening. As we solve problems together students can ask questions to build their understanding or each step of a problem solving process.
