My Students

I am very fortunate to teach the students of this community. They are motivated, inquisitive, and really enjoy collaborating when given a project. Over the past year, parents have generously donated towards my vision of introducing STEM-based chemistry and involving amazing technology that is used to gather data.

The community in which I teach is very supportive of science education and hands-on learning.

Having the tools and resources available for their children to conduct meaningful labs provides them with a quality science experience that the parents appreciate.

My Project

Students were deprived of lab last year; therefore, they truly need to experience as many meaningful labs as possible this year! I have provided an amazing investigative experience so far but a few of our hot plates have unfortunately stopped working.

My honors and AP chemistry students NEED three hot plates in order to continue relevant labs which focus on heat.

Activities involving the exchange of energy require hot plates which are much safer and more efficient compared to heating through the use of Bunsen burners. After the three hot plates expired, my first thought was how awful it will be for students to walk between lab stations (in a classroom of 30 students) while carrying heated equipment...yikes! I pride myself on providing the best lab experience for my students and maintaining the proper number of hot plates will allow this to happen.
