This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are bright and full of energy and excitement. They love to learn whether they are online or in the building. They have made so much growth so far this year and I am excited to see how far they will go!

My Project

My favorite part of teaching kindergarten is reading to my students. When I finish reading a story my students usually respond with applause.

Due to the current virtual learning environment I haven't been able to read to my students for various reasons.

I don't have the books at home or it's too difficult to manage holding the book and manipulating the computer.

For these reasons I've adapted my read aloud time by finding YouTube videos that show someone else reading the stories I've chosen. I know that my students are not getting the same experience and they are not developing the same joy of reading as they would if they could listen to their teacher read to them. With this document camera I believe I could again make read aloud time the most exciting part of the day!
