This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

At our elementary school in Houston, Texas, we believe in providing our students with engaging and creative ways to learn. Resonator bells are an ideal instrument for children, helping them explore the basics of music, such as pitch, rhythm, and melody, in a hands-on and interactive way. These bells are perfect, because they are simple to use, allowing even our youngest learners to experience the joy of creating music. By using resonator bells, students can connect what they hear with what they play, helping reinforce essential musical concepts while keeping them excited and engaged.

The goal of this project is to enrich our music curriculum by giving every child the opportunity to actively participate in music-making.

With the addition of resonator bells, students will have a chance to explore musical patterns and build confidence in their artistic abilities. These instruments will also allow us to work on musical concepts that will foster growth in listening skills, focus, teamwork, creativity, and provide a foundation for learning new instruments.

Our students are energetic, creative, and eager to learn. They come from diverse backgrounds, and many don’t have access to musical instruments at home. In our music classroom, we strive to provide an inclusive space where every child can feel confident and express themselves. By providing them with resonator bells, we can give all of our students—regardless of abilities, language, and cultural differences—the opportunity to experience the joy of making music together. These instruments will help build a sense of community in our classroom, while also giving our students the tools to explore their musical potential.
