This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My Pre-K scholars are amazing! They are the only full day class in our school. They are eager to learn and love being in school. Our school is very diverse and takes pride in welcoming and engaging all scholars and families. We are committed to creating a school where kids feel safe, loved, and motivated.
As a school, we take pride in creating an environment where we celebrate diversity, discuss and study racial equity, and "inspire all scholars to reach high levels of social and academic achievement and to become future leaders through a collaborative system of support" (our school's mission statement).
My Project
In Pre-K, one of our favorite areas of study is Life Cycles! My scholars enjoy reading and learning about plant life cycles and the butterfly life cycle. We have so much fun with learning about science especially with our weather getting warmer.
My scholars would love to have live caterpillars to watch grow and change into butterflies.
They will also have the opportunity to plant their own seed, learn how to care for their seed/plant, and bring it home to share what they learned with their family. I am so excited to give my scholars the opportunity to have a real life experience with life cycles! I know my scholars will learn so much about science and life with these amazing materials.
