This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
Students at my school apply to come here; they are motivated, engaged, and ready to learn. Students follow their career path which includes automotive service technology, culinary, construction technology, education, architectural design, IT networking, sports medicine, nursing assistant, and cosmetology to name a few. I see these students for their core science class, in particular chemistry and geoscience. These students amaze me with their desire to work in their future careers. After the difficult year and a half online due to COVID, these students need the tools that will help them be successful in the classroom, laboratory, and the world outside the classroom.
Science has been a class that many of my students feel that doesn't matter, but only a necessary class that will help them graduate.
I strive to show them how science applies to their lives.
I strive every day to make class engaging and hands-on. Tools to do this are not readily available or not in the budget. I want my students to have these opportunities and see the science in the world around them. Science matters and engaging science makes for critical thinkers that solve real-world problems. This is my goal for all students.
My Project
3D printing has taken off not just at school but across the globe. Many business like dental offices, architecture firms, designers, and builders are using 3D printers daily. Students being able to learn and build with this tool will allow them to develop critical thinking, CAD design skills, problem solving, and trouble shooting skills.
Daily, students ask me if they can 3D print.
Having another printer will allow more students to learn and create. Right now, students are scheduled a week or more out to get time on the printers due to demand.
Help more students develop the skills they can use now and in the future by bring this project to life. The smiles and joy on students faces when they learn and see their first print is uplifting and rewarding. The smile after being unsuccessful and then being success is even better. Help make more smiles possible. Students gain self esteem and belief in themselves as they learn this skill and then they tell me what they learned on their own because they wanted to know if it could be done.
