FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Price's classroom raised $297

I am the SETSS (Special Education Teacher Support Services) teacher at a high need school in New York. As the SETSS teacher, I help my students reach grade level standards in reading, writing, and math. Our school has over 1,400 students. I take small groups of students for 45 minutes, 5 days a week. They are wonderful and I want to give them every possible resource to help them succeed!
My students are intelligent, motivated, and struggle with very specific areas. I have many students with dyslexia, who have trouble decoding, or "sounding out" words, which prevents them from reading books that are on their grade level. Often, the only books their teachers have are designed for much younger children, which is discouraging for fourth and fifth graders who want to read longer "chapter" books.
I need two personal CD players and six audio books to start a listening library for my fourth and fifth graders who struggle with reading. Books on CD will allow my students to access books that their peers are reading, participate in "book club" discussions, and give them the confidence that they need to succeed in their classrooms! Books on CD will provide an additional supplement to the remedial instruction they are receiving, and give them further exposure to higher level vocabulary. It will also allow them to practice reading comprehension skills that are crucial as they advance to middle school.
You will make it possible for my students to read the books they have always wanted to read, give them confidence, and inspire them to keep improving their reading skills. The opportunities for my students are endless if they continue to overcome their reading difficulties, and you can be a part of their success!
