Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I'd like my students to remember is that science is fun and it affects their lives now. Years from today, they may not recall the facts they learned to achieve mastery on the Living Environment Regents, however I would like them to look back fondly on learning.

My students are an incredibly diverse group, they come from many different backgrounds, have different passions, and are at different skill levels.

My students are extremely talented dancers, actors, musicians, vocalists, artists and technical theater majors. A few go on to major in the sciences and pursue that as their field.

My Project

My students will read the short stories in "The Violinist's Thumb" to increase their literacy and college readiness. Using this class set of books will help bring our class discussions to life by showing my students that biology is affecting their lives.

My students will see how the topics that we cover in class affect their health through genetics, heredity and our environment.

They will see that not all current information can be found on the Internet, and this will foster a love for reading and learning through books!
