My Students

Science is at its best when students are able to observe, investigate, hypothesize, and draw conclusions over time with real life specimens. My students need to be able to experience the life cycle of a butterfly that they have read about in books.

I teach in a small town Title 1 school in Alabama.

I currently have 18 energetic students in my classroom. While much of our day focuses on literacy learning and math, my students are extremely excited and interested in learning about the life sciences.

My Project

My students need a butterfly kit with live specimens, a butterfly life cycle puppet, and model to observe and learn about the life cycle of a butterfly. Although my students are excited and interested by the life sciences, we have limited resources to watch it in action. The butterfly kit would allow my students an up close experience of the life cycle of a butterfly that we have read about in books.

Bring science to life for my students so they can observe the changes in a butterfly's life cycle.

Extend their book knowledge to real world experience. The materials I am requesting will provide my students with an opportunity they will not have otherwise. Funding is limited with proration so my students will not be able to enjoy this experience without help from donors.
