Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

For over twenty years, I have been blessed in this "ministry" that we call TEACHING/EDUCATION and have loved every moment of it but through my experience I learned that every student is successful when they are fueled. Like a car, it can run when fuel is low but damage can begin if it continues to operate in such a manner. Our "Little geniuses" need fuel as well in order for them to keep moving towards success.

Budget cuts and new curriculums has affected lunch scheduling and the time that students have to consume their lunch.

It is during lunch, while bartering snacks, students learn social skills, proper communication, self-esteem and pure friendship.

No more are the days of "lunch ladies" preparing lunches with love, but they are prepackaged and not delightful to our students. Sometimes lunch begins at 10 am to fit the curriculum timing demands. By the time noon hits, our "little geniuses" are low in energy and spirit. They need a quick healthy snack to re-energize them for them to keep going. That one snack not only fuels them but shows them that they are important and loved. Brilliant minds SNACK a lot!!!!!
