My Project

Having the tools that they need to succeed in class is the first step to fostering ownership and esteem. It is also important for my students to have regular access to books that reflect their interests and demographics in our classroom. During eighth grade, scholars will explore the Women’s Rights Movement from multiple angles. The ‘Who is / What is’ book series will provide a relaxed but in-depth overview of the time period. Which will also help the students connect to the materials. The additional books will fill our class library and provide multiple genres for their learning/ entertainment.

Girls read!

Girls are the future. That’s what I believe. Nurturing strong young women, and helping them grow into innovative thinkers ready to change the world is a dire step toward an inclusive and beautiful future. My students are all young black girls with eyes full of dreams and aspirations bigger than their current circumstances. Girls who want to change the world, learn, grow, and evolve despite not having the same tools to succeed in America. They deserve the best, however, public education sometimes lacks the resources to ensure this.
