My Project

Diverse learners deserve to read picture books where they are represented. I aspire to create a classroom library where my students can directly relate to the characters and see themselves in the pictures.

I want to fill my library with picture books that relate directly to their culture, language, ethnicity, and personal experiences.

I am an English Language Development Teacher for immigrants, refugees, and minorities at a Title I elementary school.

Most of my students don't have adequate access to picture books at home, so I want to create an environment at school where they can readily touch, read, and interact with a diverse library of children's books. I want to foster a deep love of reading and expose my students to books they can personally connect with.
