Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My beginning readers need as much access to quality literature and strong examples of fluent reading that they can get.

My students come from a variety of backgrounds but share a common thread- they are all learning to read.

They love all kinds of books and spend time each day reading words and pictures from books they choose from our classroom library. Our school is located in a busy, downtown area and they enjoy exploring the world they live in, each and every day.

My Project

I am requesting 9 sets of Read-Along books with Cd's for my listening center. Listening to stories that are read aloud is a key experience in all children's lives. My students can work in small groups at our listening center and engage with quality literature each day with these books and Cd's. This example of fluent reading will impact their reading fluency as they begin to imitate the reading they hear each and every day.

Young readers who enjoy reading are more likely to succeed in their reading and continue to enjoy it as they grow older.

Giving my students these read-along books with Cd's will expose them to great literature, support their blossoming reading fluency, and instill a love of reading in them that will last a lifetime.
